Four Types of Database Storage for Study Data

From ICISWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

1) Data stored only in DMS

  • Field book data
  • Experiment
  • Nursery
  • Trial, etc.

2) Data entered into DMS, which is warehoused (duplicated and
denormalised) in warehouse tables automatically in new ICIS tables

  • Zeus web applications
  • Data Selection Tool (DST)

3) Data entered into DMS, which is warehoused (duplicated and
denormalised) in warehouse tables manually (not associated with an
update) in data-specific tables such as:

  • CropFinder tables
  • SMTA
  • COP Matrix table

4) Data entered directly in specific tables outside of DMS

  • Genotyping data studies
  • QTL data

Note:  1, 2 and 3 are not mutually exclusive. However, data in 4 will not be in
DMS. 1 is likely to be rare and 3 will follow from 2 as a regular batch
update on related to a specific update.
